Robocop (1987). Cruel and bloody – what you need.
The story of cyborg-police with a heavy fate has become a cult, for world cinema. For me it is a childhood film and to this day I can review it. When I was a boy, Robokop was my idol and a symbol of justice. Why such a cruel and gloomy film sunk into the soul of a little boy, with which I was? Probably because he is honest. And there was a robocop!
The scene on the gas station is one of the largest in the film.
Now the trilogy does not cause me at all. What was after the first part and I do not want to remember. But the original picture of Verkhoven is something. I would like to call separate scenes without hesitation classics of cinema. The title topic is inspiring. The presentation of the plot is rapid and does not allow to get bored. The film honestly shows violence (sometimes even too much), but at the same time does not roll into a stupid slasher with a zero plot. The script is certainly not without sagging, however, this is compensated by the fact that the action takes place in a detroat of the future. Who knows what awaits us. I do not think that the film may turn out to be prophetic, as is the case with science fiction, but the setting justifies the script. In addition, this work of art and the flight of fantasy of the scriptwriters is not annoying here. Although, ED-209 (that huge two-legged robot) I would remove it completely or replaced something more successfully in the frame. The whole story seems quite real, given that this is the future with all its problems, but every appearance of this robot is pouring me like a bucket of ice water.

About the script.
The idea https://lowdeposit-casinos.co.uk/review/seven-casino/ of creating a cyborg of a policeman is not new now. There are even several worthy video games on this topic, among which I think the deus ex Human Revolution is a clear favorite. But then (1987) it was something new. Yes, there was a terminator (1984), but it was originally cyborg. And here we monitor how, once a full-fledged person, cyborg is on the border between the human consciousness and the programmed algorithms of actions. And his attempts to understand who he was very touching in the film. Not without the efforts of Peter Weller, of course. The struggle of good with evil, entertaining characters and even sudden advertising inserts, discharging the depressed atmosphere with excellent humor (at such moments you thank the scriptwriters for resourcefulness and diversity). As I said, many scenes are classic. This mainly applies to the final accounts of Alex with the Bodycan gang. Especially the scene using the “needle”. A masterpiece scene.

About characters and acting:
Anne Lewis, performed by Nancy Allen – one of the favorite characters of the film. Pretty externally and ideologically correct. Athlete, Komsomol member and the embodiment of goodness and justice, part -time.
Alex Murphy. “Ideal” – this is how I regard the game of Peter Weller. I don’t want to add anything else.
Clarens Boddicker and Co -Really terrible guys. Kertwood Smith played perfectly and made him believe that he was a real bastard. The father of Laura Palmer was also noticed in his gang. Hah, joking. But it was nice to see Ray Wise, nice. Even in such a role.

About combat scenes and violence.
The final version of the robocop was so bloody and brutal that he was assigned a rating – X (extremely cruel). You understand that counting on commercial success in such a situation is not necessary. And this is one of the ones that I would like to touch. I hate when, for the sake of fees, the director is forced to reduce, and sometimes cut entire scenes! This is blasphemy. But, to our joy with you, there is such a thing as a director’s version. In this case, it is 1 minute longer. Theatrical version (rating R) however, it was also a gloomy spectacle, which could not but rejoice, because the scenes of “disposal” were shot by 10 points and cut them completely – it’s just to knock out all the teeth of the film. As a result, I advise you to watch Director`s Sut, if only because it is exactly what Paul Verkhoven wanted to show.
The scene of the shooting of Murphy is still one of the most shocking in the cinema.
Result.
The fact that this is the best film of the trilogy is undeniable. And for me, it would be better if there weren’t these sequels from Kershner (1990) and that nonsense for children from deker (1993). On the way a rebot with an impressive custom and a solid director who makes him wait. In the meantime, for me there is only one true film about this hero, and this is a robocop one thousand nine hundred and eighty -seventh years from the director Paul Verkhoven.
